Fee waivers and Scholarships

FEE WAIVERS

The Chigiana Academy waives the attendance fees for one student in each course.
Candidates enrolled as active students may compete by making a written justified request to do so and including it with their application form, declaring whether or not they have an earned income. These waivers will be granted after a merit classification and will consist of a fefund of the paid tuition fee.
Each Instructor will be free to decide the moment for awarding them: either at the beginning of the Course, on the basis of the results of the entrance examination, or at the end of the Course, in consideration of the student’s merit.
Students who have already been awarded a scholarship from other institutions or who arrive late at the entrance examination will not be eligible for a waiver.
No fee waivers are available for attendance of Seminars.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Some scholarships are granted by public Institutions or private Donors to distinguished students of the Accademia Chigiana master classes:

“Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena” Prize

The Bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena is offering again in 2017 € 1.500 to be granted to active students considered deserving by the Commission set up for the purpose.
This year the prize will be awarded to an ensemble in Günter Pichler’s string quartet and chamber music for piano and strings class.
The aim of this prize, which the Bank has intended to be so generous, is to allow the winners to pursue their studies without difficulty and to continue to refine their promising musical gifts. The Prize will be awarded based on the judgment of a commission including a representative of the Bank, M° Nicola Sani, the Artistic Director of the Accademia Chigiana, and the Instructor of the Course.

“Rotary Club Siena”

Two scholarships for the sum of € 1.500 gross each set apart for the Orchestral conducting Course taught by Daniele Gatti and the Singing Course taught by William Matteuzzi.
The scholarships will be awarded according to the merit list based on the results of the entrance examinations held at the beginning of the Courses.

“Società di Esecutori di Pie Disposizioni”

Two scholarships for the sum of € 400 gross each set apart for the Guitar Course taught by Oscar Ghiglia and the Flute Course taught by Patrick Gallois.
The scholarships will be awarded according to the merit list based on the results of the entrance examinations held at the beginning of the Courses.

“Emma Contestabile”

Scholarships funded by Emma Contestabile’s bequest to the Accademia Chigiana to be allocated in order to launch students in their profession.

Other scholarships

A scholarship for the attendance of the Singing Courses, financed with funds of the Accademia Chigiana, is offered to one of the winners of the International “Francisco Viñas” Singing Competition (on the Jury’s recommendation). The amount of this scholarship will consist in a sum of money equal to € 35 gross / day in addition to exemption from the attendance fee.

The Italian Government also finances scholarships for attendance of summer master classes at the Accademia Chigiana. For details of requirements and application procedures, candidates should contact directly the Cultural Institutes or the Italian Embassy of their own country of residence. Otherwise they should visit the Italian Ministero degli Affari Esteri’s web site, www.esteri.it,  at the section “Opportunità”: scholarships for foreigners and Italians resident abroad.

N.B. Scholarships or any refund of attendance fees paid will be made at the end of the course attended, upon signature of the receipt form provided and submission of the tax code to the students’ office.
