The Master Course will be divided into two sessions – A (from 30 July to 4 August) and B (from 5 to 11 August) – in which different repertoires will be studied.

During the Master Course (Session B), three professional orchestra members will be present as teachers for the young musicians of the Italian Youth Orchestra, and will be at the disposal of the Orchestral Conducting students.

For admission to the Course candidates must pass both of two tests:
a) evaluation of certificates: from May 15
b) practical test with the orchestra: July 24/ 10.30 am

a) Evaluation of certificates
For this first selection, the Accademia Chigiana must receive the candidate’s didactic and artistic certificates (proving both the level of study and prior conducting activity) a photograph of the candidate, and one video (uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, other digital platforms, or private videos) of high-quality, taken within the last two years, no longer than 15 minutes by May 15. The details of which must be indicated on the specially formulated summary sheet.
The fee of € 28 must also reach the Academy by the same date.
The Academy will inform all candidates of the results of this first test.

b) Practical test with orchestra
This test will be held on the first day of the Course. In order to be admitted to the test, candidates must already have paid the required application fee of € 68, following the same procedures specified for the other Courses.

For this test candidates must present the following pieces:
- Beethoven Symphony no. 7 in A maj. op. 92;
- Schumann Symphony no. 3 in E-flat maj. op. 97 “Rhenish”.

During the Ordinary Course students will be able to develop the following works:
- Beethoven Symphony no. 7 in A maj. op. 92;
- Schumann Symphony no. 3 in E-flat maj. op. 97 “Rhenish”.

During the Master Course (Session A)students will be able to develop the following works:
- Wagner L’idillio di Sigfrido;
- Mendelssohn Symphony no. 4 in A maj. op. 90 “Italian”;
- Stravinsky Danses concertantes.

During the Master Course (Session B)students will be able to develop the following works:
- Ravel Ma mere l’oye
- Bartók Concerto for orchestra;
- Stravinsky The Firebird Suite (vers. 1919).

The names of the best students selected by Instructors will be sent on for possible inclusion in productions by the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra Foundation, the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, and The Toscanini Foundation in Parma.
