Choir of the Cathedral of Siena “Guido Chigi Saracini”
This professional choir began its journey in September 2016, and thanks to the synergy between the Accademia Musicale Chigiana and the Opera della Metropolitana di Siena, in one year’s time it has already been able to perform many concerts and prestigious musical programs. The choir is made up of a variable number of singers coming from all over Italy and is present in the Cathedral of Siena at the most important liturgical moments of the year, in addition to performing at a cappella or orchestral concerts. Since 2016, the choir has already performed great works of choral and symphonic-choral repertoire such as: Missa Brevis by Palestrina, Berliner Messe by Pärt, Lux aeterna by Ligeti, Spem in alium by Tallis, Ecce beatam lucem by Striggio, and Singet dem Hernn by Bach . As part of the 2017/2018 season, the choir will also present Mozart’s Requiem, the Petite messe solennelle by Rossini, and Stimmung by Stockhausen.
