N.B. The entrance examination may be held with either orchestra or solo tuning; candidates must provide the music for the piano part in the appropriate key.
During the Course, students will be able to work on perfecting pieces of their own choosing; they must first indicate these pieces on the application form (under the letter B). Solo tuning is preferred for work on pieces during the Course.
Students can use several modern concert double basses. These instruments may be used only at the Accademia Chigiana during its opening hours, at times to be assigned during the double bass Course.
Modern double basses can also be rented at a reasonable price from Simone and Damiano Verdiani of Siena (Tel. 0039/0577/953165 – cell. 0039/335/6095751).
