DAVID KRAKAUER

BIOGRAPHY AS AN EDUCATOR
David Krakauer is internationally acclaimed both as a performer of klezmer music and as a major voice in classical music. In addition to leading his own band “Ancestral Groove”, he regularly appears as a soloist and guest artist with world-renowned orchestras and ensembles. In tandem with his concertizing are his activities as an educator. Sine the early 1990s he has been an esteemed faculty member (clarinet and chamber music) of the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes College of Music in New York City. He has also been a faculty member of The Bard Conservatory since it’s inception in 2005. His students have gone on to create distinguished careers as soloists, freelance artists and in ensembles such as the Imani Wind Quintet, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Orchestre National de France and the Zodiac Trio. He has given countless workshops and master classes; notably leading one of the prestigious workshops at Carnegie Hall and as a Regents Lecturer at UCLA working with students from the jazz department and the acclaimed Thelonious Monk Institute. He is an endorser/clinician for Selmer (Paris), Conn/Selmer and D’Addario Woodwinds.
