Age limit: 35 years
Lessons begin on July 9 / 10 a.m.
Candidates must present the score of one or more recent compositions with their application form. They will also be required to transcribe for string quartet a “sonata” by Domenico Scarlatti. They should choose between: K.202 in B-flat major (L. 498) and K. 208 in A major.
These scores, together with the application form and the attendance/examination fees must reach the Academy’s Offices by 31 May.
The Chigiana Academy will inform all candidates of the selection panel’s decisions.
The Course will be made up of daily workshops.
At the start of the course, active students must present an original composition (already written or the sketches of a project) for a solo instrument or a chamber ensemble with a maximum of six instruments, including: string quartet, flute (flute in G), clarinet (or bass clarinet). As work in the course proceeds the piece will be tested by performers “in residence” the Quartetto Prometeo; the flutist, Matteo Cesari; and the clarinetist, Paolo Ravaglia. If possible, the composition will be performed at the final concert.
The collaboration of resident soloists will produce lessons and analyses aimed at providing essential knowledge of the classical and modern repertoires.
The course may be attended by auditors.
