Winner of the national competition for Soviet violinists in 1972, he has enjoyed a brilliant international career since 1974 as both soloist and chamber musician, working together with such conductors as Mehta, Bernstein, Maazel, Ashkenazy, Rattle, Temirkanov and Muti. Numerous his tours throughout the world, from Latin America to Australia, as well as his important prize-winning recordings made with prestigious soloists and conductors. He is currently teaching at the Musikhochschule of Maastricht.
He has been teaching at the Accademia Chigiana since 1986.
